Joy was born into a musically gifted family and started improvising on the piano at age 4. Annual examinations in classical piano and theory began at age 7 with the Royal School of Music and were completed at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Canada, passing all with Distinction and being twice recognized with the highest passing score nationally.
Joy has taught piano in Canada and the United States for 36 years, from a well developed and structured curriculum, The Royal Conservatory of Music. Her students have excelled at the Conservatory level, passing with outstanding results.
Giving back to the community has always been important to Joy as she also played both piano and the organ at churches she attended, with music ranging from traditional hymns to contemporary Christian worship. Additionally, she has volunteered at schools playing piano accompaniments with their choirs.
